Buttercup Update – GREAT video!!

We don’t recommend pets as presents but sometimes stars align and it can be the perfect gift. Avary is a cat person born in to a dog person home, her parents especially I her mother hoped she would grow out of this phase but it never happened. After much consideration her dad and I made the decision to take on the responsibility of a cat, we understood Avary was old enough to learn about pet responsibility but not old enough to take on full care feeding etc. that a pet needs. We went to the shelter to choose a cat not a kitten to surprise her with for her 5th birthday. When Del Avary’s dad walked in and was faced with a litter of kittens it was all over he chose a calico kitten. See Del is a dog person raised by cat people so he loves kitties and unbeknown to me “always wanted” a calico kitten.

On Avary’s 5th birthday we presented her with little kitty she could not believe her eyes when she looked in the box. Avary and her brother Royce are so sweet and gentle with the kitten both taking on as much responsibility as they possibly can.  Avary is absolutely in love she told me with tears in her eyes that Buttercup was so cute it made her cry. Royce has his own pet a rescued dachshund named Dixi now Dixi and Buttercup are learning to live with one another and have started to play. We have one other rescue dog named Otis he is a little large to meet such a small kitty yet but we are sure he will be very gentle too. I have to say as a dog person who grew up in a dog person home it is hard to resist the charm of this little kitty she has been a perfect addition to our family. I’m so glad we made the decision to adopt a cat/kitten for our daughter we could have spent hundreds of dollars on a gift but it would have been nothing in comparison to the rewarding experience this has been and will be for years to come.
