Creating the connections for change in leadership, organizational development,
training, coaching, and the employee experience.

sundog

Sundog Solutions Consulting focuses on development and training for individuals and organizations when they get “stuck.” This can take many forms such as training, organizational development, coaching, and strategic alignment of our most valuable assets – people!
Sundog Solutions Consulting was created in 2006 in honor of the passing of the famous Minger Dawg. When helping an organization move through change I always remember what the Minger Dawg taught me.
• Patience – you may want it now; others may see it differently depending on their own values.
• Go slow to go fast – Ming was a chow/sheepdog and she may not have the speed of a greyhound, however she always reached her goal.
• Wag more and bark less –Look at things from what we can accomplish versus we have done wrong. This is a great catalyst for change.

Sea Bird Update & Photos

October 25, 2009 by

A couple of our volunteers shot these photos over at the Wildlife Center of the North Coast.  I love that they show two Astoria teens, covered in <ahem> the fruits of their labors.  One volunteer noted, “I discovered the murres can poop a good two to three feet laterally when their hind ends are aimed out of the cages”.  Ah, the dedication of animal rescuers.

The Center still needs help; people, towels, pet carriers, transporters, hair dryers and cash to purchase fish.

UPDATED 10/22: Distressed Birds on Peninsula Beaches

There is an algae blooming off our beach that is stripping the natural oil out of bird feathers.

We are a rescue for pets, not wildlife, but we are working with the Wildlife Center of the North Coast out of Astoria, who can help.  If you encounter a sick animal:

  • Be aware that any wildlife species can cause injury or transmit disease to you.
  • If you cannot safely capture it, call the Wildlife Center for assistance (see below).
  • Note the exact location found.
  • Place it in a ventilated cardboard box in a warm, quiet area.
  • Keep human contact to a minimum.
  • Do not attempt to care for the wildlife yourself.
  • Offer it water, but please do not give it any food.

Call the Wildlife Center of the North Coast‘s pager: 503-338-3954. Leave your phone number and wait on the phone until the number is registered by a sound. It is possible to call the facility at 503-338-0331, but they may not be near the phone and always answer the pager. For this same reason, please do not use e-mail to inform of an emergency; use the pager!

We are open Tuesday through Saturday, 11-4 and are acting as a staging area for the Wildlife Center.  DO NOT bring wild birds to our Long Beach Shelter without contacting us first (360-642-1180) we have nowhere to keep wild animals if the Wildlife Center can’t take them.

UPDATE 10/22/09:    Want to be a hero?

Due to a late Fall Algae bloom close to 300 seabirds have been taken to the Wildlife Center of the North Coast.  At the center, where the usual inpatient population is 30-40 birds, volunteers are struggling to help these hypothermic, cold, starving, some injured – youngsters and adult birds – mostly murres, some loons and some scoters survive.

The Center has been overwhelmed and needs your help.  These items are needed immediately:

  • Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to help clean enclosures, do dishes, do laundry,  and help with feeding birds.  There will always be experienced volunteers present in the Center with you.
  • Donations: These birds are starving and need food, Sharnelle Fee, Director of the Center will need to buy MUCH  MUCH more additional fish to help these birds survive.
  • Hair dryers and heating pads are need to be donated to keep the birds warm.

For more information see the Center’s website at
