Young “Parti” cocker twins are ready to party!
By Cory McKeown with photos by Melanie Epping & Cory McKeown

Cocker Spaniel SiblingsThis very pretty cocker spaniel brother and sister duo is indeed active and playful, and would love to be the hit of your next party! But, other than their wonderful zest for life, their bi-color coat pattern distinguishes them as “Parti” pattern cockers.

The two spaniels are about a year and a half old, and seem to love everyone. They are very attached to each other, and it would be best if they could go to the same home. They interact wonderfully with each other, and are a joy to watch as they play with their toys. We wish we knew more about them, but they came from another shelter with very little information. Just by looking at them, though, several things are obvious: they are beautiful and sweet young dogs, and would add immense enjoyment to someone’s life.

A scratching post from someone’s heart

The post was left under our covered porch area over the weekend when the shelter was closed. It was obvious that this anonymous donor is a person who cares about animals. The toy was freshly reconditioned, with new carpet, a sturdy plywood base, and most wonderful of all, with a colorful pom-pom just perfect for batting attached to the top. Whomever did this put his or her heart into it, and was also kind enough to donate a kitty “grooming arch” toy.KittensWe want to be sure our supporters know how much your donations mean to us and to the needy animals in our care. Something as simple as this small scratching post can add tremendously to the quality of life for a caged animal. With a post such as this, the kittens have a whole new dimension in their lives – now not only can they zing around their cages playing with toys, they can go up! And down! And up again! It is wonderful stimulation for them, and we make sure they promise not to use their newly found climbing abilities on the drapes in their new homes.Speaking of kittens, the new fall crop has arrived! Some people don’t know that the arrival of kittens is seasonal, but it really is. The main group of kittens for the year are born in late spring and early summer, and another smaller group is born in the early fall. We have some delightful “fall arrivals” right now – all colors and patterns – tigers, “peachies,” tuxedos, black – all playful and people-pleasing. Come in and watch them play – even better, find them a place in your heart and home!

Shelter Wish List

Due to the influx of the fall kitten “crop,” we would be very grateful to once again receive donations of Purina Kitten Chow. It is very nice to be able to feed the little ones a consistent diet – if they are fed a diet of several different brands or types of food; they tend to get digestive upsets, much like human babies in the same situation.Cash donations are also especially needed now to help us provide the shelter animals with the veterinary care they need to be comfortable and to thrive. Thank you for caring.
