Get smitten with a kitten! – Kitten season is in full swing, and although we have had quite a few kitten-lovers come and adopt cute new additions into their lives, we still have more wonderful “tiny tigers” awaiting their chances. We have all colors and patterns – even a darling little Manx.

Please come to the shelter and look – these little felines are guaranteed to steal your heart! If you aren’t up to the energy level of kittens, come and visit our adult cats. We have some wonderful ones that sure to please you and be wonderful companions.

Lasey: She’s waiting to melt your heart

This 10-month-old black lab girl is shy and is having a hard time getting comfortable with shelter life. All the strange noises and activity frighten her, and she gets in her bed to seek comfort.

One might think she is hopelessly shy, until you see that her tail is thumping all the time she is in her bed, and that she will look at you hoping you will take the time to come sit by her, pet her, and speak soft words. When someone speaks kindly and strokes her, she just melts, and it is obvious she would be a wonderful companion for a gentle person willing to ease her fear. Are you that person? If so, come meet this charming pup with the soulful brown eyes, the beautiful shiny coat, and the quietly wagging tail.

She will be a wonderful lifetime companion for someone who cares enough to make her feel secure in the world. That person will be rewarded with her love.

Wearin’ of the green coming up! - This year we will again be having our very enjoyable St. Paddy’s Day Dinner and Silent Auction fundraiser. The dinner and auction is one of the biggest fundraising events the Humane Society does, and raises very important funds needed to take good care of the needy shelter pets. The event will be held Saturday, March 15, location to be announced.

We very much need items donated for auction. Goods and services such as lodging, restaurant meals, gift baskets, gift certificates, art pieces, certificates offering home or auto repairs are just a few of the things we would be very grateful to receive. If you have something you can donate to this vital fund-raiser, please call Marie at 360-244-2551.

Shelter Wish List – We would be very pleased to receive canned dog and cat food, 13-gallon garbage sacks, kitty scratching posts – and of course, cash donations are very much appreciated! The Humane Society is very grateful for all the support we receive throughout the year- thank-you!

Free Dog Obedience Class - Dog trainer Tina Woodruff is again offering a free obedience class for dogs that have been adopted from our Humane Society. The class will be held Sept. 19, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the shelter. Pre-registration is necessary. This is a great opportunity for adopters to learn techniques that will help make their dogs even better-behaved members of the family. Call the shelter at 642-1180 for details.

Shelter wish list

We would be very grateful for donations of laundry soap, Purina Kitten Chow, and paper towels. Thanks for your support!
